We open our 2026 season with the first period instrument string quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists. The Consone Quartet are known for their honest and expressive interpretations of repertoire, notably from the classical and romantic eras.
They will open with the Opus 33 No. 5 quartet nicknamed “How Do You Do” by Haydn, the father of the string quartet. Mozart’s popular ‘Dissonance’ Quartet follows, part of a set which he dedicated to Haydn. They conclude with Schubert’s ‘Rosamunde’ quartet, famous for its beautiful slow movement.
