Kapustin

Concert Études - Prelude, Intermezzo and Final (1,7 and 8)

Chopin

Études, Op. 10

Rachmaninov

Études-tableaux, Op. 39

We welcome back one of today’s most successful pianists, Freddy Kempf. He has built a unique reputation as a dynamic and physical performer not afraid to take risks as well as a serious, sensitive and profoundly musical artist who has performed all over the world.

This is a concert of ‘Etudes’, the French word for studies, but all these pieces are also wonderful music. The Kapustin Concert Études are very virtuosic pieces in a jazzy, improvisatory style, and they will contrast well with those of Chopin and Rachmaninov. Chopin’s Études have a musical story to tell, and Rachmaninov’s Études-Tableaux are magnificent.  This will be a concert to relish.
